What is the #1 thing you prioritize on a company visit?
For me, it was about decoding how technology drives real-world business impact across borders. And this experience? Beyond anything I expected.
First of all, let me tell you what it meant for Esther’s daughter (me🥰) to walk through a captivating city like Amsterdam. Incredible! The Dutch are incredibly hospitable! I felt completely at ease exploring the streets, even on my own.
Last month, I had the incredible opportunity to join HEC Paris’s HEC Paris MBA Product Management Club and Tech Clubs on a company visit tour in the Netherlands. From cracking an energy case study to simulating real-world energy scenarios and uncovering the business strategy behind a thriving marketplace, every moment was a learning adventure.

My sincere gratitude to Raphaël Sahakian and the team at Equigy – crowd balancing platform hosting us and guiding us through such an engaging case study on their innovative crowd-balancing platform. It was truly rewarding to work through complex energy challenges together, transforming ambiguity into clarity. I particularly appreciated the thoughtful feedback each team received, which was both insightful and encouraging. The experience was as educational as it was enjoyable. Equigy is a non-profit platform owned by European transmission system operators (TSOs) that enables small-scale energy devices, like home batteries and electric vehicles, to participate in electricity markets. By creating a secure data exchange for aggregators, it turns consumers into active “prosumers,” boosting grid flexibility while reducing reliance on fossil fuels. The platform sets cross-border standards to support a cost-effective, renewable-powered energy system, accelerating Europe’s transition to a sustainable and decentralized grid.
My time at Capgemini profoundly expanded my understanding of the energy sector. Beyond learning about their leadership in guiding the eco-digital transformation and their innovative Energy Command Center for reducing consumption, the highlight was undoubtedly the energy simulation exercise. While engaging and enjoyable, this hands-on experience challenged me to think critically about sustainable energy systems and their broader implications – an invaluable learning opportunity that will inform my perspective moving forward.
Have you ever wondered how an auction house could thrive in the digital age? My visit to Catawiki‘s Amsterdam headquarters provided fascinating insights into their remarkable success. This innovative platform has mastered the art of selling rare collectibles and special items online while profitably expanding into new markets. I was particularly impressed by how their team walked us through their scalable business model, a brilliant case study in digital transformation done right.
