A Journey Into the Future of Rail: My Visit to Alstom’s Innovation Hub
As someone passionate about the intersection of technology and big industry, walking through Alstom’s doors felt like stepping into the nerve center of sustainable mobility. This global leader—with €17.6 billion in sales and a railway market growing at 3% annually—isn’t just keeping pace with the industry’s future; they’re designing it.
What struck me most was how Alstom’s immersive technologies are revolutionizing rail operations. I tried their VR maintenance simulations firsthand—tools that slash downtime by training technicians in hyper-realistic virtual environments. Their AR overlays, which project real-time diagnostics onto physical components, exemplify how digital innovation drives both cost efficiency and passenger satisfaction.

The highlight? Collaborating with Alstom’s in-house design team on future mobility concepts. Their studio buzzed with prototypes blending sustainability, ergonomics, and cutting-edge aesthetics. Touching a scale model of their hydrogen-powered train, I realized: this isn’t just engineering; it’s artistry with a purpose.
Huge thanks to Carles Coca-Mascorda, Michael Haddad, Alexis Bonnet-Salkind, and the entire team for their generosity. A special shoutout to Yassine Alami for orchestrating such an insightful visit—proof that Alstom’s greatest asset is its people.
As I left, I carried not just brochures, but conviction: the rail renaissance isn’t coming. It’s already here, and Alstom is laying the tracks.
