Participating in the highly competitive fellowship at the MIT Legatum Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation marked a pivotal moment in my journey as a global development advocate and leader. This experience offered an unparalleled opportunity to immerse myself in a dynamic community of visionary innovators and esteemed thought leaders from across the world. The insights gained and connections forged have already enriched my perspective and strengthened the work I do at Tech Lead Global, where our mission is to advance human capacity, innovation, and policy solutions across Africa and beyond.
“The bootcamp provided a valuable platform for Ghanaian entrepreneurs to gain critical insights and strategies for navigating the unique challenges and opportunities presented by growth markets,” said Dina H. Sherif, Executive Director of the Legatum Center. “Through interactive workshops led by MIT faculty, experienced entrepreneurs, and industry experts, participants honed their value propositions, refined their business models, and developed strong leadership skills—all essential ingredients for achieving sustainable growth.”
The fellowship’s curriculum was rigorous and deeply practical. It integrated MIT’s growth market case studies with cutting-edge theory across areas such as design thinking, product-market fit, systems change entrepreneurship, and market-creating innovation. Participants gained tools for crafting scalable business models, developing effective leadership skills, telling compelling narratives, and building strategic partnerships.

For me, the most impactful aspect of this experience was its direct relevance to global development and policy. In my work at Tech Lead Global, I focus on building human capacity through training, mentorship, and advocacy, enabling African youth and entrepreneurs to create solutions that drive socio-economic progress. The fellowship reinforced the importance of connecting entrepreneurial growth with systemic change, emphasizing that sustainable development requires both innovative ideas and strong leadership to influence policy and mobilize communities.
This experience has given me renewed impetus to expand Tech Lead Global’s initiatives—from digital skills training and mentorship programs to policy advocacy on technology, innovation, and economic development. By combining insights from the MIT Legatum Center with our work on the ground, we are better equipped to empower the next generation of African leaders, foster entrepreneurship that addresses societal challenges, and shape policies that catalyze meaningful change.

The MIT Legatum Center fellowship is more than a personal milestone; it is a catalyst for accelerating impact in human capacity development, innovation, and global policy, reinforcing my commitment to building a world where opportunity, knowledge, and leadership converge to create lasting social and economic progress.
